Dunsfold or Edenbridge?

We currently live in south London, and are looking to move - not by choice, it's just far too expensive to live here now.

We've viewed a few property's, and are narrowing down to one in dunsfold, godalming which was LOVELY but in the middle of bloody no where, which bothers me more seeing as I'll be home the most.

Or Edenbridge, just on the outskirts of Surrey. Was a lovely house, but not as nice as the dunsfold one. I posted on Facebook asking what Edenbridge was like overall and everyone had really positive things to say...which doesn't help if there's no negatives!

Does anyone have any first hand experience of either areas? Good or bad - I just need to make a choice and not regret it 😩

Dunsfold I know well. Lovely area and great access to Cranleigh, godalming and Guildford. Good rail links to London from Guildford. Great pubs near by and a good village community should you want it. Things to note and check:

Gatwick flight path, are you near it?
The aerodrome is getting 2000 houses soon.
Do you have decent broadband - it's a lottery there.
Public transport is not good.

If you post a Rightmove link to the house I might be able to help more.

I wouldn't go anywhere near Dunsfold now. There's been planning approval for a large development on the old aerodrome site. There are barely enough school places for the existing families and the GPs/roads etc are inundated already. I live near Godalming and have done for 20+ years so have really noticed the difference, and it will only get worse.

Forgot to add, if you're commuting to London from Guildford you have to think of the road access to the station - the A281 which is solid in the mornings.

Dunsfold has always been a little less popular than its neighbours, and with the inevitable aerodrome development it is worsening.

Whilst it is not far from Guildford, it could easily take 30/40mins in the car in rush hour.

Edenbridge may also be on flightpath.

When you say the Godalming one was in the middle of nowhere, Godalming isn't really far from anywhere...... just wondering !

I suppose it's all relative, Dunsfold might seem like the "middle of nowhere" when you're moving from Clapham!

Whilst technically a village Cranleigh is really the size of a small town, and Godalming and Guildford aren't much further away.

What sort of lofestyle are you after? I don't know Dunsfold but edenbridge I'm not keen on. Sorry. It's a bit boring! But it does have a great council leisure centre, soft play and a Waitrose Grin and good train links into London. Fairly near to Hever Castle and TW for shops too. Just the small town leaves me cold.
