Looking for housing

Hi, my name's Emily and I'm a 22 year-old soon to be single mum.
I have no idea what I'm doing about housing and its making me super stressed out. Hoping for some advice or even if I'm lucky someone to share a property with.

It appears I am not eligible for council housing as I have not lived in one borough of London for 3 years. Private renting is too expensive alone so I am unsure what options I have left. Is anyone in the same boat as me??

I am due to have my baby in March and am going to continue working until the latest possible. I am looking for either advice on housing options available to me or someone who is also looking for housing and we could rent together and split costs?

Appreciate any help!!
Thank you!!

Should have mentioned ^^ I currently live and work in Haringey and hoping to stay in/around this borough. Camden and Westminster are also options for me. TIA

What’s your budget? Where do you work? What childcare are you planning to use? Camden, Haringey and Westminster are very expensive boroughs, of course. Have you considered moving out a bit?

Are there other places you have ties to?

Thanks for your reply.

My budget currently is £1000 pm however this will increase when the baby arrives. I work near Alexandra Palace and want to live within close distance. I work in an early years childcare establishment so the baby will come to work with me. I would consider moving further depending on the property. I don't really have ties to anywhere else apart from Westminster.

I know someone who was in a similar situation and shared a one bed flat (using one of the rooms for her and child) + shared use of kitchen and bathroom.

If you've been in Haringey for a while, it might be worth carrying on living there if you need 3 years to apply for council housing.

Thanks JoJo! Was this private renting?
