Live in Edinburgh, holiday in York. The East Coast Mainline has it all.

Knaresborough although not a city. Neither is Harrogate (where I live)

Prettiest city - York!

Wells, Bath, Oxford, Cambridge, York, Winchester, parts of London.

Most smallish Cathedral cities have lovely parts.

Not a city, but I think Bury St Edmunds is very attractive.

Edinburgh. Scotland would win prettiest anything though, I feel like it’s almost not even fair to include it as it’s miles ahead in terms of beauty.

London is a good second.

Edinburgh is pretty damn fine but not pretty. It has a certain austerity to it.

Chichester
Oxford

I agree that Edinburgh is 'handsome'.

DioneTheDiabolist · 21/09/2019 01:04

Derry, the old, walled city. It's beautiful and tiny.

Ely has a cathedral so must count as a city. Gorgeous to see it rising out of the flat fens like something from ancient mythology.

Love Norwich too.

I have great 'snapshot' memories of Lincoln, Cambridge, Oxford, York - even some parts of London like the bit around the Tower - also up river at Kingston.

We are absolutely spoilt for choice when it comes to beautiful, historic towns and cities in the uk.
