How long?

How long does it generally take from solicitor searches being done to completion? We are buying the house we live in so don't need to move? Do you think we could exchange and complete on the same day?

It depends what comes up on the searches, what queries are raised and what responses are received and how quickly. If you are buying with a mortgage your solicitor will usually be acting for the mortgage lender too and there will be certain things they will want in order to be sure the house is good security for their loan.

There is no commitment until exchange, but as you are living there you might be okay with exchanging and completing same day.

exchanging and completing on the same day depends, to a certain extent, on the lender. Ours required 5 working days in between.

Oh ok! That's good to know thank you
