Prepping house for surveyor

Our buyers surveyor is coming on Monday to do the valuation and report. Is there anything I should do before they come to ensure a good report? I'm planning on having a good clean up tomorrow but does it need to need to be as clean/tidy as if it were for viewers?

Thanks in advance!

It doesn’t need to be spotless as for viewings but (depending on the survey!) they will open doors and drawers so make sure anything embarrassing is tucked away 😁😁I was recovering from a minor op when the surveyor came round my house so it wasn’t even properly clean!! Xx

I wouldn't bother. Surveyors are there to look at the condition/structure not the cleanliness

@Tillypea I work with Surveyors. I'm the only non-surveyor in the office. You don't need to do anything. Some properties are spotless, some are HMOs, some belong to hoarders or to someone who died. Some have pets others have kids. Trust me when I say they don't care what it looks like. They appreciate being offered a coffee / tea but will rarely accept. They look at the structure of the property. They may ask you some questions re history (if you've done work to it etc).

If they are doing both valuation and report then it's likely to be a homebuyers which takes a lot less time than a level 3 full building survey anyways.

Thanks all, that's good to know Smile

I was quite relaxed about the tidiness of my house as I thought it wouldn't matter for the surveyor, after all, they were just coming to visit to check the condition of the house, surely? But he took photos of the kitchen including my half-eaten eggs and bacon which I hadn't finished on the breakfast bar. My sale fell through due to the results of the survey and I was given a copy of the report complete with photos of an unfinished full English!

@EndlessDream wow! That seems unfair! Sorry to hear that your sale fell through.
