Is there any way to do this?

Please bear with me!

I bought my flat from my HA in April 2017. The terms of my discount were that I can't sell the flat within 3 years. If I do, have to give back 1/3 of the discount received for each year early I sell.

Obviously I only have six months left, but I really, really want to move as soon as possible.

Can anyone advise me on how much earlier I could move (if at all), but keep the sale date as end of April?

No idea if that makes sense. Hopefully!

Thanks.

You could start advertising in autumn or January at the latest with completion date at the end of April.

It's impossible to fiddle the date of completion if that's what you mean.
Can you rent it out?

I thought as much. I need the equity from selling mine to be able to move.

I just need to decide if I can see out the next 8 months, or if I can afford to take the hit on paying back the discount.

But thank you both.

Work out how much money you’d lose and decide then if it’s worth it.
You could move on with parents or a pal unofficially for a while? Just visit the house now and again if you could afford the mortgage repayments? Things may change. Eg if it’s bad neighbours they may move etc?

Yes, some of the neighbours are an issue and they don't give a toss about the state of the common close, etc. My son is embarrassed to bring friends home SadThey've been here years now. The HA has evicted someone since I bought, and to be honest the others aren't anywhere near as bad as him ( notorious drug user). It's not just that the neighbours, I just really need more space for us.

There's not enough room in my family home for us just now.

Things could be far worse. I just need to weigh up my options Smile
