Hi! I'm moving to the Isle of Wight with my OH in about 2 weeks. We'll be renting, but got a bit scared off by the letting agent who showed us round a couple of houses in Cowes and then told us about a GBH incident in that road last week, then told us the crime rate was really high and not to park our motorbike outside...good of him to tell us I guess but it's also made us wary of where to live! We don't know anyone on the island yet so haven't been able to suss different areas. So...is this just a one off negative person? What's your experience of crime rates if you live on the island? We're mostly looking at East Cowes/Ryde and tbh apart from him have heard nothing but good things, been on holiday a couple of times and it's been lovely but what's it like when you actually live there? Thanks for answering cos I've been a bit thrown by that experience! (Coming from Brighton so no stranger to high vehicle crime/violence but it's always good to know!)
