Searches to exchange... how long was yours?

Solicitors have had all the searches back. Seem to be taking their sweet time actually doing anything with them.
How long did it take you exchange once searches were back?

It depends on what else is outstanding. Searches are one part of the process and since the local search can take several weeks to come back, they are ordered early in the process (once you've paid for them!). By the time they've all come back, some of the other work in conveyancing will be running alongside. Enquiries take time, especially if some are not straight forward.

See that's the thing... the solicitors have told me they have everything they need. All searches are back including LA. I just don't understand the hold up 🤷‍♀️ they told me last week that their enquires would be sent to the sellers, still hasn't been done 🙄

"an army marches at the pace of its slowest soldier"

Ask your solicitors why they haven't raised enquiries with the sellers solicitors.

There may need to be a second round of enquiries, depending on the answers given to the first batch.

As Spickle says, there is no meaningful correlation between when the searches come back and when exchange takes place.

Keep hassling them 🤷🏻‍♀️ it can take ages from this point depending on their enquires and responses from your vendor or can happen very quickly.

Took us bloody months to exchange after searches and enquires! I was fit to kill my solicitor when 2 days before exchange they raised some new enquires (after tell me everything was answered and nothing left in our way) almost causing the chain to collapse.
