Built-in oven / double oven / combi microwave??

I currently have a freestanding gas cooker with high level grill that's worked really well for us over the years, but we're moving to a new house and the kitchen needs doing, so I am thinking of getting something more modern looking with a built-in hob and would like waist high oven & grill. However, I'm not sure what I really want or need!

I prefer gas as I've never seemed to get on with electric cookers whenever we've been away anywhere. I'd say the grill function is important as I use that a lot, but I'm not sure if many places do gas double ovens? Would I be better looking at a gas hob and electric oven?

The kitchen is a bit on the small side so I was wondering if it would be worth having a standard oven and then above that a combi oven / microwave / grill, rather than having to find another space for a separate microwave?

I don't use the microwave that much, maybe a couple of times a week for defrosting veg or frozen meals ??

Thing is, are the combi ovens any good, or is it a case of compromising everything and they're not really very good at anything? As I said, the grill function is probably important.

Any thoughts? Anything else I need to consider?

We put in a combi oven (plus main oven) when we re-did our kitchen. I didn't use the microwave much, but didn't want to be without one completely, and this seemed the ideal solution. Three years on, I'd do the same again. TBH I use the combi as an oven more than as a microwave (as I expected), but it's good to have the microwave there if I need it. Just very occasionally I want to defrost something and find I can't because the oven's on, or isn't cool enough, but it's rare. Wouldn't work for everyone, but it works for us.

Ooh, what's the grill function like?

Actually, it seems like all these 2nd oven/grills have an electric grill element, and not a gas grill (even if the oven is gas). Dp really wants a gas grill and will not tolerate an electric one. Do you know if anybody does a gas grill? I really want a built in, waist level oven/grill and not go back to a freestanding cooker!
