Safestyle windows

Just had a quote - 12k to replace 11 windows, back door, fully glazed porch door and side rpanel, main front door and bi fold. Didn't think this was dreadful, Guy was acceptably pushy (ie a bit but not ott)

A few horror stories on line but so do all the others. He was very late for the appointment which does make me pause.

Any views? We're getting a local firm to quote tomorrow but interested in experiences

Local firm every time.

WBWIFE · 05/08/2019 22:30

Locks firm.

Safeatyel quoted us 13k for a front door back door and 6 windows.

They then said if we signed today they could do it for 8.5k

Went to a local firm who got us a composite door!! And pvc bskc door and 5 windows £3800

minniemoll · 05/08/2019 22:31

Local firm every time!

PrayingandHoping · 05/08/2019 22:38

Go local

We had a safestyle quote, they did the whole this is what the windows would cost but here is the amazing post discount price.... oh but you won't get those good windows it'll be this rubbish inferior ones.

When I laughed and said that's not a discount then that's selling a cheaper product he got really argumentative and rude.

mrsed1987 · 05/08/2019 22:39

Safestyle did the same to use as poster above oh i can do you a very special offer, type thing.

The windows and door is good quality however, they measure the front bay window incorrectly, meaning we had a huge delay. We also had a few niggly issue and wrote a huge complaint which they claimed they didnt receive, twice! And in the end we just gave up!

They also keep ringing every 6 months or so saying they can do us a deal on other windows or doors as they have made 4 sales thanks to people walking past and seeing the work at ours....we live at the dead end of a cal-de-sac, up a private drive....and they replaced all our windows and doors we dont have any others!

Damia · 05/08/2019 22:46

We went with safestyle. Got all our windows and doors done. Got a few quotes then had safestyle come out. They were a bit above the highest other quote we had so we told them the lowest we'd had and they immediately dropped to below that. I dont remember the total now but I'm sure it was less than 5k. So they did a good job but make sure you haggle as they clearly have a lot of space to move downwards in price.

TraffordTansy · 05/08/2019 22:51

We moved into a house with Safestyle windows and had to get them replaced - they had fitted windows which were just not the right size and then bodged the bit round the edges.

It was shocking to see tbh, God knows what the previous owners had paid.

Got a local company in and they were great.

PickAChew · 06/08/2019 00:13

We got a composite door plus 5 windows for just over 2k with a local guy - mates rates for fitting, so would have been a bit more if he wasn't one of DH's schoolfriends. Windows ordered direct from a manufacturer and really good quality. Less impressed with the door but it was miles better than the badly fitted UPVC one it replaced.

I wouldn't touch safestyle with a shitty stick.

notapizzaeater · 06/08/2019 00:18

Safe style walked out on us as we asked for his best price and stop trying to sell, just tell us the price. He got really aggressive and left. Actually went with a local firm fir 5k less.

Every couple of months SS ring to see if they can sell me anything else. Grrr

Had windows fitted by SafeStyle 2 weeks ago. Order placed and turned around installed in less than 2 weeks. Overall a good experience. 2 teething problems but they were quick to put them right. We had 2 other quotes and both were more. Their quote was over £20k but Safestyle dropped £3k to get it done quickly as they had people in the area. No hard sell and everyone seemed nice and friendly. I would recommend them and already have.

I suppose its like most things in life......different people have different experiences. Some good and some bad!

Gamorasgran · 06/08/2019 20:24

Today's guy was on time, gave us lots of suggestions, didn't over sell and was keen to play the long game (put us off the bi fold, told us not to change the patio door now).

Was also 3k cheaper even taking the door out of it.

Looking like a no brainer

Our neighbour had S/Style at good price, we called them out for quote a year later which was same as neighbour had paid year before
7 windows comp front door and a back door £5300 Gave price fix for a year no hassel or calls.
Got other quotes a few months later, one the same from local company , Crystal windows much more. 2 months later called safestyle again got £100 off all windows and doors fitted within a day. Only problem we had was a couple of windows wouldn't close properly as they had not healed and toed them ( or other way round ) came and fixed no problem immediately
Crystal windows called my phone 5 days a week for months despite me saying not interested had to text them to say STOP which they did after that.

Avi13 · 07/08/2019 08:55

After sales service not good!!

stucknoue · 07/08/2019 09:37

Local is best, safe style are super pushy and totally sexist, wouldn't come and quote unless h was there (so I told them don't bother they called back when I was out and h made an appointment), when I questioned them he would chuckle and explain what a stupid point it was to a bewildered h who never deals with repairs. Complete sexist charlatans. The company I used came and quoted when I was home alone, answered my queries and charged half the amount!

gemma19846 · 07/08/2019 13:57

DONT DO IT!!! Theyre absolute rubbish. We had 3 windows fitted with them. They scratched all our paint work bringing them in. Then they left a right mess after themselves. We were told the windows would be triple glazed but they werent. They didnt seal the windows properly so we had to get them back round. Then one window wouldnt open so they came back AGAIN. A few weeks ago we could feel a strong breeze through one of the windows and it had bowed and had a big gap down the side so they had to come out a third time. Total nightmare of a company. Id suggest using a recommended local (and cheaper) windows place

gemma19846 · 07/08/2019 13:59

Oh and we had the "this price is a special discount for you....just today!"

Fairnair · 08/08/2019 09:44

Recently had 7 windows, front door and french doors fitted by Safestyle.

Good points - very good quality, good choice of colours, door styles etc., finished off inside neatly with D beading, very quick installation (only took a morning, as we had 5 fitters).

Bad points - pushy salesperson, quoted daft price of nearly £12,000 first before coming down to a one day only trade price of 4K cheaper.

I checked on Which website regarding window installation before I had mine fitted. Generally speaking they recommend a local firm, (they get approx. 85% satisfaction rating by their members) but Safestyle comes top out of the main window suppliers such as Everest, Anglian etc. It does obviously depend on what local firms you have in your area. I could only find a couple of companies that covered my area, and to be honest their reviews very not very good.

I got a quote from one local firm who have a good reputation, and installed windows in some of the houses in my street. Initial quote was about £3,000 cheaper, but it was not a like for like quote, as this did not include toughened glass etc. which I needed in at least 4 windows because of their location and size. By the time they had added this cost on, there was not much difference in the price.

Good luck OP.
