Has anyone looked up the Which? kitchen reviews recently?

Just wondering, if anyone has read the Which reviews lately and can remember which kitchen makers came out well? I know I'm being cheeky and should join Which but I have great trouble cancelling these things and cannot afford that!

TIA

18 months ago it was DIY kitchens which we had used and found to be brilliant. Couldn't have been happier. However, there have been a lot of very negative reports since and it may be that their success is co promising quality. Worth looking at though as some comments were down to a paint spraying machine and if you went for standard colours it may not be an issue

Ah thank you, yes I've noticed a big difference on here in terms of comments about diy - they were really praised weren't they? I'm glad you've had a good experience.

Your local library should stock Which?, you might have to ask though as it’s not kept on display usually. You can look up which issue did kitchens.

Whereabouts are you? I've just had a local cabinet maker make me a bespoke kitchen and it wasn't as much as you would imagine . Pm me if you like

Banjodancer · 31/07/2019 10:34

Thanks Gubbsy I'm in Scotland and more in the Ikea price range I think than bespoke stuff! I hope you're enjoying your new kitchen Smile
Library is a good idea. I suppose though if Which reviewed DIY before the recent problems it wouldn't help me anyway.

If I remember correctly John Lewis and how dean came out well. B&Q poorly. I’ll check for you. Ok have checked. DIiY Kitchens, Ikea , John Lewis top 3. B&Q and Wren at the bottom. Howdens comes in just after ikea.
My husband put in a lower price range ikea kitchen in my brothers home, he was not impressed with the quality of the materials. Maybe if you go with a more expensive one it would be better.

Just had Ikea one fitted. Done with a local fitter, but they came out and measured/designed. Would highly recommend that service as the man came up with ideas we'd never even thought about.

Blastandbollocks · 31/07/2019 18:20

(it was a more expensive option from Ikea though).

Thanks this has been so useful. Blastard that's what I need, ideas, I can't see beyond how it is now!
whataboutbob thanks so much for checking for me! Flowers

Oh I just posted about our fab designer on another thread she's full of ideas . And doesn't sell products so no hard sell or pressure etc.

FYI, Which? has published new kitchen rankings - and they're vastly different from before: Magnet, John Lewis and Ikea in the top slots. Then DIY Kitchens and Howdens.

Review sample sizes do vary considerably - from only 40 for DIY Kitchens, over 100 for Magnet and Ikea, 65 for JL. The sample of 455 reviews for Howdens is hard to argue with - and worrying as I am about to buy from them.

Why is kitchen buying so bloody stressful? Also, in theory you are not supposed to spend more than 5% of property value on kitchen refurbs.

But given Brexit, many UK property values are tumbling while conversely imports of kitchen / bathroom kit / hardware likely to rise.

Feel like I've chosen exactly the wrong time to embark on this project!
