Hi, I'm in the lucky position of being able to put a new kitchen in our house, and the space is massive. But (there is always a but!) it's quite a dark kitchen and north facing. The current trend for grey and dark colours would look funereal at breakfast time, I think.... but equally a very white kitchen in the cold north light would be a bit hospital.

I just cannot find a picture of a kitchen that makes me think "oh yes, I'd love that" - even taking no account of price! If you have any links to pics that might inspire I would be very grateful.

I'm not a fan of shaker, I'd really like slab if I can manage it without looking too antiseptic.... I like colour.

TIA ever so!

Our dark kitchen (no windows of its own - one end of a north east facing room) has just been redone in teal and very pale green. Seems to work well.

I had a v dark kitchen, north facing
I was amazed at how much of a difference painting it white made.
I’ll post before and after

Blue units all along one side, and a White Island.

How big is your space

@tomboytown what a transformation! I love it! Is it bespoke?

crosstalk · 06/08/2019 12:44

OP if it's north facing and large, think about a pantry with marble shelves.

Thanks chopc, yes, an amazing local kitchen maker

Grey is out of date already.
Do you have the sort of roof you could put lantern window in or a couple of sun pipes even
