Help me plan my living room furniture

Hi,
I wonder if you can give me some suggestions of what layout might work for my living room. We have just made the kitchen bigger by removing a door and making the way in through the sitting room.
The kitchen is fantastic as a result, but the sitting room is going to be trickier now.
I want a 2 seater and a 3 seater and a telly. I wanted to put shelves either side of the fireplace.
Can I have the telly on the wall above a gas fire? My partner hates the idea but I think it’s the best way to use the space.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Is it possible to get rid off the rad and have a horizontal one with the same watt output
That way the 2 seater under window
3 seater on back wall ?

Think that we could just turn off the radiator and do that.
What do you think about the telly?

How big is your TV?

For instance, could you design built-in bookshelves for the alcoves so that a TV would fit on one closest to the window?

Just put the sofa with its back to the radiator. We've had that in every house we've lived in and it still heats the room. I hate TVs on chimney breasts as they're too high up. Have shelving in the alcoves just have the TV on a unit, a shelf or a bracket with shelves above in the alcove nearest the window.

Hi,
That’s interesting about the too high up problem for tv’s on chimney breast. I hadn’t thought of that.
If we are having 2 sofas, do you think one on back wall with small gap, one with back to window, then use the bit of alcove on right hand side of chimney breast for the tv?
Or do you think some kind of corner sofa?
Or what about having tv near window but sofa facing window and making a bit of a corridor for entry to kitchen?

I think I'd do TV in the alcove by the window, swap the radiator for a vertical one and position it in a way that you could still put a sofa with chaise extension along that wall. I'd then do an armchair or love seat type thing in front of the door into the kitchen.

I'm not keen on corner sofas, they feel too enclosed to me. Much prefer a chaise bit.

Hi, just looked at chaise sofa, and not sure it would seat 5 without being too big for the space. Looks relaxing though!
