Should I instruct a solicitor to sell my home before I've found one to buy?

I really want to get into my new area by September. Got an offer on mine from a cash buyer that I've accepted and withdrawn from the market.

I'm looking for a new one but if I don't find anything within the next two weeks I'll just rent for 6 months .

Should I instruct now? It feels like I should as council searches alone are taking 5 weeks at the moment so really want to start the ball rolling

Yes! Just do it - but let them know that you are looking for a property but the purchase doesn't need to be tied into your sale. Good luck! x

Do it! The selling/buying process takes an absolute age, even when the chain is short.

Good luck with the move.

Yes, go for it - if you're happy to rent, that's a good backstop option, but honestly, the further through the sales process on your current home you are, the more attractive you are to sellers in your new area when you do find a home there that you love.
