Anyone had an i-mist system installed?

I am having the stairs in my tiny Victorian terrace turned around both to allow direct access to the upstairs bathroom rather than though the 2nd bedroom and to make them less steep. The stairs will now rise from the dining room which is almost open plan to the galley kitchen.

The building regs inspector said I need to install an i-mist system (like a sprinkler system) in the kitchen area OR I could replace the upstairs windows with ones that are fire egress safe. The latter will spoil the outside look of the house.

I have had a estimate of just over £3K excluding VAT for the i-mist system just one nozzle and pump (which seems steep as they quote under £2k plus VAT as their starting price).

I don't have a separate water tank, just a combi boiler so don't know if that is going to be an issue so need to clarify this with the company.

Has anyone had one installed? Please tell me all about it from start through to finish of the works. What's involved, how much mess was created, how long it took and so on. Thank you.
