Recessed LED lights for roof lantern - how often do you really turn them on?

To install the LED lights is incredibly expensive near £90 incl.vat. I also doubt how effective these LED bulbs could lit up the area.

Our house is very narrow. So the edge to be lit outside the roof lantern is only about a meter each side.

I'm thinking, instead of paying at least £600 to install 6xLED bulbs, would it be practical to set up two nice pendants hung from the roof lantern. I mean those cluster pendants.

Please share your view~

Thank you!

We are having an LED strip around our rooflight recess. It will be wired to come on with some of the other kitchen lights so we will use it a lot. If I needed to switch it on separately I doubt I’d bother much! It won’t provide much light, it’s more of a decorative feature.

If you want to hang pendants from the lantern I assume it has a metal frame to hang them from (sort of conservatory style?) Where will the wires go - you’d have to make sure you get wires the same colour as the frame so they can run along the frame and blend in. If the wires would be very visible then that would put me off.

Also what’s under the lantern? Pendants usually have a feature directly underneath like a dining table or island, I’m not sure how it would look to have pendants above nothing in particular iyswim.

However pendants from lanterns can look amazing so I do like the idea.. just depends on if it works in your particular set up

We have them and regret it, never turn them on as at night they reflect in the glass

We have these, they are on a track and they can be moved along the track, they are like little spotlights that can be moved to left or right, up or down

Aesops I hadn’t thought about reflections. Just found a picture of one with reflection showing and it looks ok... Do the reflections cause any problems or is it that you don’t like the look of them?

Mini, sounds strange I know but it looks wrong to me. Kind of reminds me of a public space rather than a home when I look up Hmmlike an airport/office

We also had spotlights put into external overhang outside the bi folds, when they are on it floods onto the patio and there is no glass reflection, I love that affect and choose to have them on at night rather than the LED around skylight (same area of room)

I wouldn't put pendant hanging lights from it. I think that would look odd. The roof lantern is it's own feature. It would look too fussy and how would you hide the wires ?

The lights are a pretty feature not a functional thing so the lantern can be displayed at night.
