Garden direction

Hi,
I've recently bought a new house and can't figure which direction my garden faces, I've attached a pic of a house further up the road with compass.

Can anyone tell me the direction it reads please!?

Also if there are any keen gardeners on here, what sort of plants/veg would be good to grow.

East-South-East.

Presuming that the garden is behind the kitchen-diner wall (marked in green on the attached image) then south-east.

I'd say south east if the garden is the green bit you have coloured

Front is north west so back is south east - means the back should get lots of sun unless it is shaded by other properties, high hedges or trees.

Do you know what soil you have? Some plants will do well on sandy soil, others will be happy on clay. With a South east facing garden you'll get lots of sun, and if the soil is sandy it's perfect for Mediterranean plants. Clay retains more moisture, so you could plant most things, although you might want to improve the drainage with sharp sand, and add some good garden compost.

Do not rely on that compass! Go and check yourself (you can do it from the street if you drive by) with an app on your phone.
