Where in the country are you?
We had plans drawn up by an independent designer and intended to source our kitchen from DIY Kitchens.
Priced it up at £7,200 for cabinetry which we were happy with for an in frame kitchen in a bespoke painted colour.
Worktops and appliances from elsewhere.
Fitting by a local independent was quoted at £2k.
I then discovered these guys.
pineland.co.uk/hand-made-kitchens/
Bespoke, made to measure, hand made solid wood proper in frame for £7,900. Painted inside and out.
That doesn't include wirework for the larder, bins and a couple of pull outs so there's an extra £400 or so to make it truly like for like but I'm pleased with the price.
To top it all off, their recommended fitter has quoted £1,000 for fitting so all in it's pretty much the same.
They have a pretty long lead time but I'm hoping it's worth the wait.
So far service has been outstanding but the real test will be when it's delivered and fitted in a couple of weeks. I also haven't paid them a penny yet as they don't take payment until the delivery truck pulls up at your house.
My advice, get prices from local independent kitchen firms (proper joinery firms, not chipboard cabinet resellers). You might be pleasantly surprised. Never in a million years would I ever have thought I could get a hand built solid wood kitchen for a similar price to a factory made chipboard one with solid doors.
