Hello, first time user here but have found mumsnet very useful on our property search. The rich information on areas has been great.

We are thinking about putting in an offer on a house in Caterham, when we looked at the place we fell in love, however, after a bit of research it seems like the area may not be so great. It's on Stafford road about a 10 minute walk from the station.

It seems as though there has been some bouts of anti-social behaviour there and in the past, I think it had a less that great reputation.

Really hoping someone here could shed some light on if the area is not great, or if it's no worse than anywhere else.

Thanks!!

Have you looked on police.uk? That will have factual information and it makes it easy to compare areas.

Thanks @JoJoSM2, awesome info and I've had a look but all a bit vague. That's why I was hoping for someone who lives there maybe to give an opinion. I know it's all a bit biased but when you've no idea about areas in towns, it's hard to gauge sometimes where the problem areas can be.

My dd looked to buy there but in the harestone valley part which is the other side of the station. I thought caterham was just a bit of a quiet nothingy sort of place, but I suppose there are probably pockets of arseholey people living anywhere. Are the crimes you read about specific to that road or the general area
