Picture Rail continuity?

Hello. We have a 1930's house with picture rails running throughout (apart from the hallway and landing where they have been removed by the previous owners). The rails in the upstairs rooms (though the same) differ from the ones in the downstairs rooms. Should the 'soon to be reinstated' picture rail in the hallway/landing match the downstairs rooms, and the respective upstairs landing ones 'match' their upstairs rooms (and therefore inconsistent with each other), or should landing and hallway Always be the same (in which case, i'll just have to decide which style to go with!:@. I hope that all makes sense anyways, and I 'thank you' for any help and advise given.

i would pick one or the other and go with that through the stairs and landing wether you match the upstairs ones or the downstairs ones dosent really matter as no one is going to see inside your bedrooms so wont know wether its the same all through or different styles,

the rails in the front hall and the main reception rooms are likely to be the grandest, in order to impress visitors.

Unless you entertain a lot, you are unlikely to have so many vistors in your bedroom, so picture rails and skirtings may be simpler.

In my previous house, the housekeeper's sitting room had a picture rail, but not her, or the maid's, bedrooms.

The landing had the same fancy picture rail, skirting and coving as the hall.
