House 1:

House 2:

Both good for schools and work so that’s not an issue. I just love both!! 😭

I know no2 is a lot more but I just want opinions o the houses, layouts, gardens etc??

Dh says no1 (because he is thinking of ££) our max budget was 580 so both are under in a sense

Number 1 if I couldn't hear the motorway and the road was very quiet. It just feels better.

TroubleWithNargles · 11/07/2019 17:50

The 5-bed by a long way. It is proper Georgian with classical proportions. Priceless.

Although to be honest, if I were spending that much in that part of the world, I'd go for land and neither of those have what I'd be looking for.

Candleabra · 11/07/2019 17:55

Jesus, they're both fucking awesome. (Not helpful).

Beansandcoffee · 11/07/2019 18:00

My goodness they are both fantastic. That’s it I’m moving up north

Whichouse · 11/07/2019 18:02

We haven’t viewed them yet, dh is working this week in London. We don’t want “land” as such just enough space. There’s a few others that I have booked to see but imo these two are my favourites and they are so close to school that dc could walk to and from if needs be!! Dh needs to get to the train station on a Sunday eve and until Tuesday eve, the rest of the week he would work from home. So we would only need to get over the bridge to the station.

Trey are sooo cheap.. are there no jobs there? I like both!!

Whichouse · 11/07/2019 18:08

@gubbsywubbsy he works for a great company in London (also has office in Manchester) we have family here so ideally we want to be near them. He wouldn’t have to travel EVERY week thank god.

gubbsywubbsy · 11/07/2019 18:20

I meant the area .. why is it so cheap? I'm
In the south east and 425 gets you a small 3 bed if you are lucky 😬

Whichouse · 11/07/2019 18:21

@gubbsywubbsy I dunno presumably because it’s north, literally 15 mins from Scotland.

The 5-bedroom, by a long way. The other is lovely too, but it's been modernised too much for my taste.

I agree with the pp - they're SO cheap! (Speaking as someone used to southern property prices). They make me want to put an offer in and move there.

TankGirl97 · 11/07/2019 18:48

House 1 by a mile for me, it’s stunning!

Whichouse · 11/07/2019 19:16

Thanks everyone! I’ll keep you all updated!

Carlisle is lovely and lots of parkland/open spaces for family walks not too far away from either property. Good luck OP.

Rockhopper81 · 11/07/2019 20:59

Would be house 1 for me.

Makes me wish we could look that far north!

WBWIFE · 11/07/2019 21:01

Number 2

Northernmum100 · 11/07/2019 21:06

Number 1. Serious envy here...

Pixel99 · 11/07/2019 21:07

House 1, I love that entrance / hallway.

Persea · 11/07/2019 21:09

House 2 is link detached.
That’s odd. And would put me right off.
It also looks too modern despite the fact it’s regency.

House 1 otoh is gorgeous. Proper wow factor. And it’s a bloody bargain!

Awrite · 11/07/2019 21:13

House 1. By some way.

I see House 2 is near water. Not a flood risk is it?

I really don't like House 2's driveway. In the sense that it's the view from the front room.

KickAssAngel · 11/07/2019 21:13

House 2 is link detached, but the photos carefully hide whatever the garage links to. It could be farm buildings.

tbh, with the budget you've got, I think you could find something as gorgeous as either one of those, but with better surroundings/less work to do.

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 11/07/2019 21:14

Both are lovely & so so cheap SadEnvy but but grade 2 - sorry that would be a no from me!

DickZillaofTheVilla · 11/07/2019 21:18

House number 1

Whichouse · 11/07/2019 21:22

Much further out and over budget 😫

House one.

I don't like the "beige box" decor and flooring and fireplaces that have been added to house 2.

beanaseireann · 11/07/2019 21:31

What way do the gardens face ?
