Holiday at last stage od house extension?

DJ is really keen to have a week off this summer to spend some time abroad. The issue is our house extension work is expected to complete end of August.

With school reopens in early September, we will have to be away before the work completes. My worry is all the details of the work would only be presented near end of the project. Whilst we can decide most of the layout/make decisions before reaching the end, the reality might we don't like what we planned or we want to alter some fine details before too late. So I'm not comfortable to be away at all for the last two or three weeks of the project.

Anyone has experience on this?

Our building company is very trustworthy though. We have mostly not been involved in supervising due to DH's work and we had a new baby along the way and live elsewhere right now.

Would appreciate some advice!

You mention he wants a week off, but that you will be away for two or three weeks away?
I would say a week would be fine, they can always contact you on the phone for any queries. At the final stages you will have made 95% of the decisions. and it will be down to finishing off (painting, flooring etc) and snagging - of which you can produce a list before you go and another one on your return!
The build is likely (unless you have a late clause in your contract) to over run so you may fine you're not quite at the stage that you think you may be.
