New usable conservatory

We are looking at low key extension options at the moment. We have a 1980s stereotypical 4 bed detached which came with a conservatory at the time.

It's a nice size for what we need (basically just an additional room to act as home office/teen hang out. It's knackered and typically too hot/too cold so needs to be replaced.

Whatever we do it needs to be very light as the living/dining room is quite dark and it backs into it. But it needs to be fully useable as a room all year round.

I know conservatories have come on a lot and the hot/cold issue can be managed. My parents have a great one which really adds to their house but is used in a traditional conservatory manner.

Any views/experience? I think we'd go solid roof and that light reflecting glass plus underfloor heating so ideas for cost also useful (we're in sw).
