Hi Guys, I'm wondering if there's any difference between all of these house portals - should I use one over another? I don't know how this works, are all of the properties on all websites :)

Buying my first home and just finding the right place to begin :)

Look in both but in my experience every is on rightmove.

Most estate agents these days will place houses on both of them (well certainly the 4 agents I had to value my home all did, and a couple used onthemarket as well). So there isn't likely to be much difference.

Personally I only ever bothered to used Rightmove on that basis!

I used all three and saved the ones I liked, there were some houses that weren't on others and I found that on the market used to go live before the others x

Get alerts set up on Rightmove, Zoopla and On The Market. On The Market is not great but EAs signed up with it can only advertise with them and RM or Zoopla.

Some EAs have an email sign up - one near us did and they'd email to people signed up before they went live online.

That used to be the case, but not any more.

I stand corrected - I didn't know that. Has that happened relatively recently?

Mildura · 06/07/2019 10:41

Not that long, I can't remember exactly, but think it was about a year ago.

as a buyer ive found rightmove an easier site to negotiate, as you can filter searches down to semi detatched , detatched etc, and price range wheras on Zoopla i got lots of terraced houses as well and cant filter down to semis, so i had to trawl through a lot of houses to find what i was looking for, whereas rightmove gave me exactly what i wanted, live in a town where there are hundreds of terraced and back to back houses

I prefer the user interface on Zoopla but use that and Rightmove too as you get a small number that are on one but not the other. I never bother with on the market.

My daughter found a property using Facebook on a page called Private Landlord Rentals. Hope this helps. There is also Gumtree and rightmove.
