Island, peninsula or table

Wise people!

This is our kitchen. We currently have a kitchen table but my DH is keen for a peninsular or island.

Can we fit an island in to this space?

For a peninsular, it would be parallel to the utility room and dining room.

I think it would be annoying to walk round to utility all the time.

For an island I don't propose to have anything other than work top.

Table - it offers more flexibility.

i agree table we have a huge island in our current kitchen and aprt from the fact i only use it for food prep most of it is wasted space that needs cleaning and im always walking into the dammed thing , in our new house there will be no island

I too have a huge Island and it’s crammed with features and storage. I think a big one is a wonderful asset as long as you are creative about its use. Just replicating a table is pointless.

Mine has a veg prep sink, my hob with an over under. Double waste bins, cutlery storage and multiple pan drawers. The ends store t towels, cookery books and cleaning materials. On the side facing outwards there is the water softener, picnic gear, less used electrical equipment and bbq gear. At the far end a circular table is built in at breakfast bar height. It’s wood. It seats 4.

The storage is the best thing and I cook and chat to family at the same time. It’s the best bit of the kitchen and I have the advantage of two glass walls where I look over my garden. A plain old kitchen table seems very boring and certainly doesn’t offer extensive storage.

Island with worktop only? E.g. A table on stilts instead of a normal one? I'd just have a table.
