Bad Building/Plumbing Work

Hello all,

Would appreciate any advice on this. Does anyone know if there is any governing body where I can report negligent building work done by a rogue builder/Plumber?

I had my bathroom installed over a year ago and they did not fit the taps properly hence a leak has appeared in my neighbours place downstairs.

Sick of being over charged for bad work and would like to report this builder - might be a long shot but thought I would ask

Thanks!

You have to give them a chance to put it right first. Although I'm not sure how your taps could cause a leak in another flat.
Even if they forget to cap off a pipe and ruin your floor, they still have the opportunity to put it right first.
If that fails you can take them to court for the damage.
If they rip you off you can report to trading standards and if they literally just defraud you then the police would be interested. But that's unlikely and it sounds like you're simply on an issue of wear and tear to the downstairs flat or possibly poor workmanship if they damaged something by jiggling the pipes

Yes I have given them the opportunity to put this right but alas no returned calls/texts. They did not fit the taps properly not seal the taps in properly so the excess water from the shower above drips into the gap and causes a leak.

Thanks for the tip on trading standards - this is the first avenue I will look into.
