Anyone else on the countdown to completion?

8 days to go and excited about our move but feeling emotional about leaving our current home, friends etc. and so overwhelmed by all the practicalities. Anyone else moving imminently?

Yes, we complete on our new house on Monday, move in next Friday. Haven’t sold ours yet..so getting a little anxious, although it does give us time to come to back tidy and clean. Looking forward to getting the keys, so I can take the kids down a few times to get used to it. Hate moving house. I swore I was never doing it again, but here we are!

I’m currently just trying to pack little bits at a time, if I think about too much of it at once, I think I might do a runner! Good luck!

Boholady · 04/07/2019 11:39

We complete next Friday! I'm currently wasting time on here instead of packing lol

roseblush · 04/07/2019 13:23

Good luck selling your place @weatherforducks ours took ages, ended up switching agents. Nice that you have a bit of time to move though. This is our first proper move as this is our first house and we moved in from rented with hardly any furniture. We've accumulated so much stuff. Plus a cat and a toddler now...

Snap @boholady. We've got the removals doing our packing though so hopefully will make things a bit easier.

@roseblush we are downsizing and spent months decluttering before we put the house on the market in March. But there still seems to be so much stuff! How can I be on box 6 just of china from the Welsh dresser?! 😭

isseywithcats · 04/07/2019 17:37

we complete and get the keys on the 15th only moving one street away, and was hoping to have a whole month to shift out of current rented and into new house but as it is i will have two weeks, of which we are away for four days one of the weekends so 10 days to clean and clear, but am going on the wont get our deposit back as letting agents will find any excuse no matter how clean i leave it so will do as much as i can with working two jobs as well

roseblush · 04/07/2019 19:12

That's a lot of china @Boholady! I think we've restocked our local charity shop with our declutter. And I'm still worried it won't all fit on the removal truck.

Hopefully you do get your deposit back @isseywithcats.

I'm on the countdown but it's a long one, not moving until 30 August! We exchanged on Tuesday and I was a bit disappointed to have such a long wait but it's actually OK.

We have lots of time to sort stuff out and declutter some more. We have a two week holiday booked in mid August so can do all the admin steadily and not get too stressed. I definitely need a period of calm after the run up to exchange. Plus I need time to sort family admin out that I've let slip recently.

mum2015 · 05/07/2019 17:28

Can i join in. I have almost 3 weeks for completion. Havent started any packing yet. 3weeks sounds a lot but that is just three weekends!

PlanBea · 05/07/2019 18:55

I'm on countdown but waiting for our new build to be built, so we're still 3-6 months away! Sad good luck for nice easy moves everyone

TankGirl97 · 06/07/2019 07:40

I’m on the countdown too, we’ve not exchanged yet but everyone in the chain seems to be aiming for a late July/early Aug completion.
I’m keeping my fingers firmly crossed as that would be perfect timing. The house needs work, so we need time to get the kids bedrooms sorted before school starts again in September.
We’ve decluttered loads already but I’m not looking forward to packing and moving with three kids. I used to quite enjoy moving so I need to get back in that headspace!

roseblush · 08/07/2019 10:31

4 days to go here! Some of you have long waits. Hopefully time goes fast.
Good luck getting a date sorted @TankGirl97

Good luck all! We got our keys 31st may and it was so stressful this time round. It was a nightmare on completion day and we were unable to move in and now moved in with my parents whilst we renovate it as it was left in a poor state!

Boholady · 09/07/2019 12:45

How's it going @roseblush?

Window cleaner came this morning, and oven cleaner coming tomorrow.

Aim for today is to have deep cleaned one half of the kitchen.

Just can't wait to be moved now!

roseblush · 09/07/2019 13:48

I can't wait either @boholady
We're taking the cat to a cattery tomorrow then have packers in Thursday and have cleaners coming Friday morning. Freezer is nearly empty so can defrost that and packing up stuff we want to keep with us. So satisfying to get things ticked off the list.

OP posts:
Boholady · 09/07/2019 14:05

@roseblush we're nearly there! Yes yes to multiple list ticking lol

Our 4(😨) cats are being collected on Thursday morning. DH has Thursday off so we can crack on with the last bits together.

roseblush · 09/07/2019 14:20

Ah, good that your cats are being collected, you get to avoid all the meowing! We're moving an hour away so too far to be collected but they'll drop her back with us on Sunday. It's going to be strange without her for a few days but far better than having her here with all the packing etc.

OP posts:
Boholady · 09/07/2019 14:50

We're relocating 70 miles away and DH found a great pet transport company so they will collect them, keep them for 2 nights and then deliver them to the new house.

Definitely too fraught to have them in the house during packing/moving!

fresh · 09/07/2019 14:56

Yes, just exchanged and moving on the 19th. Packing not too bad, I’m a ruthless declutterer and since STBXH buggered off I don’t have to pack his shit so it’s going ok. Just working through the admin list of address changing etc. Going to new house tomorrow to measure up and decide where things are going. Excited now..

roseblush · 09/07/2019 18:43

That's a really good service @Boholady.
Congratulations on exchanging @fresh!

I'm getting a bit nervous about ensuring there's space outside for the removal lorry. We've got our car and a neighbours car plus bins, hopefully will be ok.

OP posts:
Boholady · 11/07/2019 06:56

Good luck with packing day @roseblush!

roseblush · 11/07/2019 08:57

Thanks @Boholady! Packers are here and I'll be heading out with dd soon. I hope your cats get off ok. Feels very strange here without mine. 1 day to go!

OP posts:
sandybayley · 11/07/2019 09:01

@roseblush - good luck with the packers. Have you packed anything or are you letting them do everything? We have packing booked but I'm doing bits and pieces myself as we don't complete until 30 August and I got given a load of boxes for free.

roseblush · 11/07/2019 09:04

I've packed up stuff they don't take (medicine and jewellery) stuff with sentimental value which I want to keep with me and then stuff we need for the next few days/nights but other than that have just left things as they are.

OP posts:
roseblush · 11/07/2019 17:26

Very impressed with our packers today, there were 4 or 5 of them for 4 hours and just a few bits left to do tomorrow. Thought they were going to be here all day.

OP posts:
Boholady · 12/07/2019 05:47

Here we go @rosebush!

Glad your packing day went well. We've just got to pack our non hanging clothes and clean a few last areas.

Hope your move goes smoothly :)
