Repainting a cot - paint recommendations?

I have a gorgeous secondhand cot bed that needs repainting. I'm no stranger to painting furniture and aware that it will take some work to prepare and do a nice job.

I'd like a paint with a subtle sheen (not gloss!) that's baby safe/chew friendly, hardwearing and easy to work with. Any recommendations?

I'm currently looking at 'Little Knights' who recommend their silk paint, but it'll be an expensive mistake (both time and money) if I get it wrong!

Earthborne clay paints are nice, I think if you read through the specs they are safe for kids toys. You'd probably need to put a wax coat over to get a sheen though as they are quite Matt.

They are nice to work with and no paint smells at all just a very slight chalky smell.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into them! 😊
