Hi All,

We are looking at moving out of London and have seen a nice place here, Lawday Place Lane, Farnham, Surrey.

Does anyone know what the area is like, is it generally a nice/safe area?

Thanks all.

Don't know anything about the lane specifically but I grew up 5 minutes from Farnham and my parents still live there today. Farnham is a lovely area! Definitely not a particularly high crime area... rather affluent actually.

I've done the opposite to you and moved into London, and I'm very jealous of you right now!

DramaRamaLlama · 02/07/2019 20:50

It's the less nice side of Farnham but generally speaking Farnham is a nice town.

GoodStuffAnnie · 02/07/2019 20:54

It’s in a bit of a weird area. On outskirts of Farnham. Can’t walk anywhere. And near a fairly main road. But depends might suit you...if you need M4 maybe.

IHeartKingThistle · 02/07/2019 21:49

Yeah it's outskirts but will be quiet. You'd have to get in the car a lot. We live that side of Farnham - it may be the 'less nice' Hmmside but I think we have the better people!

DramaRamaLlama · 02/07/2019 22:05

It wasn't a value judgement iheart Hmm

IHeartKingThistle · 02/07/2019 22:16

Maybe I'm a bit defensive, we hear it a lot!

AllBirthdaysMatter · 02/07/2019 22:34

it might be true then!

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies. We don't necessarily need to be driving alot, apart from getting to the station in order to get the train to work, which we don't mind doing.

Can anyone advise on what the so called "nicer" parts would be? What Wrecclesham like?

We were told the areas surrounding Lawday Place Lane had an estate which "could" be problematic....

It's a council estate. It has normal people on it, mostly families. If you don't live on it you're not really aware of it.

Personally it's a plus point for me as I like living in an area with a mix of people and I like my kids to go to school with a mix of children. But far too many people in Farnham would rather avoid an estate. Fine by me; I'd rather avoid those people!

Again, sorry for being defensive!

Thanks @IHeartKingThistle
Appreciate it...
Really just trying to get a balanced view... which I guess we could only get if we spoke to many people and spent some time in the area...

I prefer the carnival there over the one in town Grin

The road itself is in a nice area, the council estate really isn't a problem. Farnham Park and Ceasar's Camp are great for walking and cycling, the hill can be a killer though. Schools are good, people are nice.

As IHeart says, Farnham is quite snobbish and the 'favoured' south looks down on north Farnham
I don't know Wrecclesham very well but it also has its 'problem' area. But overall Farnham is a nice/safe place to live.
