Does anyone live here with kids? I know the area well but not with kids. Where is the nearest supermarket or playground? Is it welcoming to families? Community feel? What do kids do as teens here? Is it tricky to get out to proper countryside north? We've earmarked a school and are thinking of Highgate for secondary. Basically any info on the feel and what it's like as a family to live here.

Lots of (wealthy) people with children live there!
Highgate and Channing Schools are a draw but v. competitive to get into and quite an elite, pressured environment.
Supermarket = Tesco Colney Hatch or smaller Sainsbury's at Muswell Hill Broadway.
Fantastic playground in Highgate Wood - smaller playground in Waterloo Park.
It can take 25 mins to drive out into Herts - but 50 mins through N London traffic in rush hour or on a Saturday afternoon! Some nice countryside once you get out to the M25.
