Paint on trainers

I was throwing out an old tin of white gloss paint but it leaked and left sticky lumps some of which I accidently trod on. Now I have sticky paint on the soles of my trainers and white spirit doesn't seem to touch it. Any suggestions how to remove it?

was it an oil-based paint or a water-based paint?

Once it has dried, white spirit won't remove oil paint.

If still wet or soft, brush cleaner is more effective.

If it's water-based paint, then scrub with water and detergent, before it dries.

It was oil-based which is probably why it's still sticky.
