Has anyone done this? I was all set to do it but am now wondering if I might have gotten carried away looking at photos of the William Morris museum…

All my ceilings are wallpapered, just painted white though.
When I moved in, all the ceilings were painted bright colours

Oh—I hadn't considered the increased fire hazard. Shock
Will have to look into that more. Thanks for raising that rollingpine.

tomboytown is all the detailing on your ceiling done in paper (i.e. not plaster)? I've seen some similar things in pictures from China.

… this being one example. I have a feeling this one might look a bit tacky in practice though!

My parents' house had always had wallpapered ceilings... which they then painted over. I didn't know it wasn't a thing until I moved countries. HmmGrin

The only increased fire hazard is from old fashioned foam ceiling tiles with gloss paint on them - they melt and drip down.

Every house I have ever lived in has had wallpaper on the ceilings, albeit plain paper painted white/cream.

There’s plaster mouldings and then paper, like anaglypta inside.

I like it. I wonder how much harder it would be to paper ceiling than it is to do walls...(I am not that good at Walls. The gravity involved in a ceiling would probably defeat me I think)

I love those photos, go for it! I might have a look myself.....
it's easy enough for someone to remove / paint over if you wanted to sell. Modern wallpaper is usually easily removed

I papered a ceiling once with an anaglypta type paper and then painted it. The ceiling was very uneven and it did a good job of smoothing it out, but, god it was difficult! I am pretty experienced on papering walls, but you really need an assistant for ceilings - although somehow I managed to do it on my own. If I ever need to do it again (unlikely) I would get a decorator in.

I've never wallpapered anything! Decorator sounds like a good idea! I
