Anyone else just moved into new home?

Looking to track progress as we settle into and start to renovate the house we moved into on 11th June and to share experiences and tips with anyone in the same boat. Please share your progress here!

Day 4 here and still tackling the cleaning currently. Previous owners had three dogs and the house was honestly the filthiest thing I have ever seen! We have a 3 week old DS and a toddler so progress is super slow.

Today we managed to:
Clean hob and cooker in full
Finish cleaning last of kitchen cupboards
Unpack majority of kitchen
Get TV set up (!)

Goals for tomorrow:
Find steam cleaner
Start tackling what looks to be years of ground in dirt on the kitchen floor
Kitchen skirtings and radiators
Kitchen door to garden

@Littlemissdaredevil Congratulations on your new home! How long do you think it’ll be before you’re ready to move into your new place?

We’ve made some good progress this weekend. Had various people in to inspect and prepare quotEs, builders and a chap who can restore hardwood floors.

Also set up a paddling pool on the terrace and watched the kids play in it all weekend which was wonderful having never had a garden.

DH spent a long time cutting and strimming and chopping in the garden and I kept my rubber gloves on! Have detail cleaned one large french door and one bay window and also a large book shelf/ cupboard thing which I can start unpacking stuff into tomorrow!

I’m ready for completion day tomorrow. Fortunately we are not moving straight away so I don’t have to live in a building site! I’ve got a plumber and bricklayer coming round the afternoon and a builder on Thursday. DH thinks everything is v expensive and wants millions of quotes. The only problem is that if you get 3/5 quotes for the plumber, bricklayer, roofer, kitchen fitter, gas engineer, damp specialist, electrician, plasterer then I would spend all day every day showing tradesmen round and no time at work!

Totally get what you're saying @Littlemissdaredevil I feel the same. I can only cope with the volume of quotes by trying to do everything in a planned order. Get overwhelmed otherwise!! DH wants it all at once but there's no way that's possible .

We've never owned a freehold before (or renovated) and am drowning a bit in all that we need to do...

Happy Completion day @Littlemissdaredevil huge congratulations on your new home!

Today’s home todo list is hampered by holiday preparation:

Clean out car in full.
Pack clothes for me, DS1 and DS2
Prepare supermarket list and buy!
Unpack and clean main bathroom.

Yesterday we fully cleaned what will be the playroom. Just need to move furniture in now.

Anyone else still unpacking/cleaning?
