Can somebody please help?? The previous owners hung their nets by glueing plastic hooks to the upv frames. Can anyone advise me on how I can remove this rock hard glue?

Have used WD40 to remove the sticky residue left by sticky pads on doors - Worth a shot?

I've always used Autoglym tar remover. Just dab a bit on a cloth or tissue and wipe. If it's really hard, you might want to leave it on there to soak for a bit. Maybe tape a dampened cloth to the window frame for a bit?

I’d try vegetable oil, or whatever you have for cooking first.

Sticky stuff?

Quicknamechange7 · 13/06/2019 23:33

Sticky Stuff Remover - I had same and it worked a treat.

SpacePlusTime · 13/06/2019 23:36

I have exactly this!! I thought I was the only one cursed.

I’ve tried - sticky stuff remover, white spirit, hairspray, some other stuff I’ve now forgotten and considered petrol?

But actually what worked was veeeery carefully chipping it off with a chisel. And then veeery carefully wet sanding off the residue.

My windows are powder coated metal rather than PVC though.

9 times out fo 10 petrol (think Swan lighter fuel or a cheep equivalent works). If not try methylated spirits. One of those should work. Failing that, acetone / nail polish remover is worth a try -- however be careful that doesn't effect the substrate.
