Moving to York from Hertfordshire, best areas to search!!

Hi! We are wanting to move to York end of this year from the South and looking for advice on the best areas for a family, my sons 2.

Want to be within 1 1/2 miles from station as my husband will be working in Leeds.

My search is coming up with plenty of houses 3-4 bed in Heworth area. Is this a good area, Im hearing mixed reviews?

Any recommendations on areas, schools welcome! Heading up to York next weekend to do reccy of areas.

I thought Heworth was supposed to be nice, and the schools are good. But as always, depends on budget and what you're wanting (semi? decent garden? local restaurants etc?)

I think the 1.5 miles to the station might be a bit limiting for a 'nice' area. Holgate and Heworth are both good areas. Heworth borders onto Tang Hall which is less desirable so closer to Stockton lane is probably better. Huntington (the part further from town) and Fulford are also good areas with great secondary schools but probably outside the 1.5 mile limit. Have a check of the school catchment areas, Milthorpe, Fulford, Huntington and Joseph Rowntrees secondary schools are good options
