Woodworm 😱

I found active woodworm in the door to the cellar (it’s a pine door) so I decided to send it off to be dipped and stripped as I know this will kill the woodworm stone dead! The door guy has phoned me and said that the door can’t be stripped as it has polyurethane varnish on it and they’ve had it in the stripping solution for 45 mins and it isn’t coming off. I’m ok with that but what I want to know is will the process still have killed the woodworm if they couldn’t get the varnish off?

Hi @LittleHouseOnTheHills,

We're going to move this thread over to our Property/DIY topic - we're sure some of our regular posters over there will be able to give you some advice.

Probably the solution will have got into the holes. Other than that get a proprietary wood worm killer and squirt it in the holes.
