Mystery window leak - any ideas?

Hi everyone,

Today we have horrible driving rain and high winds, and I have noticed a puddle on my windowsill. I have attached two pics to show where it is coming from. I noticed the same thing on a similar day in February, but each time it has rained since then I have checked and there's been nothing (even when it's rained heavily).

The windows are wooden, about 16 years old, but well maintained and were painted and repaired inside and out last year. I have stuck my head out of the window and nothing looks amiss. I don't understand how water is getting inside through the frame yet there is no water in between the double glazing! I really hope we don't need a new window, as we are in a conservation area and it will cost a fortune. Does anyone have any ideas before I get a window person out (who will undoubtedly try to sell me a new window!)

There's probably a tiny gap in the corner of that frame which allows water to blow in when the wind is strong enough. Can you get to the outside, or is it as high as it looks?
