Can anyone recommend paint for kitchen cupboards?

I’m assuming I will need primer as well as paint?

Yes Tikkurila paints. I wouldn't even bother with anything else. I had a new kitchen installed that was hand painted. The quality was so good it looked like it had been spray painted. I asked the manufacturers what they used and they said the industry tend to use this quality paint. You can have it matched to any colour (I went for Farrow & Ball French Grey). They do an extremely hard wearing one and 4 years in my kitchen still looks like new and is cleanable without damaging the paint at all.

Also for Primer go for Zinsser - again the best you can get and you can get away with not rubbing down.

Interesting. Do tell about your project, OP. I was thinking about replacing our new (old) doors but maybe new handles and paint would do. I'm not crazy about the shape of our doors though...
I imagine you need to remove doors from cabinets in order to paint them?

Yes I’m talking the doors off the hinges to do it. It’s just a tired kitchen and I fancy freshening it up without spending lots. I haven’t decided what I’m doing with the handles yet. I might replace them once I see how they look painted.

Frenchic! Seriously, I've become a bit of an addict....haven't painted kitchen doors but just done my fireplace and front pvc door. Lots of pictures and reviews on internet of people painting kitchens.

If you go to the tikkurila website they show you which paint to use when. It looks like the Helmi is for furniture and they do a primer. I am not sure that would be best with your laminate effect surface but maybe email customer services and ask them to recommend to you which would give the best outcome?
