So I'm buying a house by myself. I already own a house but I'm wanting to move to a nicer area. I've been to a broker today and found that I can afford more than what I thought so now my budget has increased from £130k to around £150k!! I'm really excited as this opens up the availability of houses in decent areas massively. There's hardly any for £130k but loads for around the £150k mark. Eeekk I can wait to start viewing!!

What's the betting that the one you fall for will still be just a bit too much...? Sod's blooming law Confused.
Good luck!

Please don't let banks and brokers tell you what you can afford. You need to determine this yourself. Borrowing the maximum that a bank will lend you is not always a good idea.

ohhahhh789 · 04/06/2019 17:37

Oh yes of course I decide myself lol. I'm not that daft. I'm allowed £200k if I go what the banks say but what I mean is that the repayments on £150k are lower than what I thought and within my budget if around the £500 per month mark where as I thought it would be much higher than this. I already pay £500 so I know I can afford this. I can afford up to £600 so can probably afford £160-£170k but I'm going to try and stick to £150k currently.

Ooooh how exciting that the debt pushers are allowing you to take on even more debt, over a no doubt even longer repayment period, meaning you'll pay them even more interest back over the term.

All so property prices can be maintained at bubble levels.

That’s fabulous op, happy house hunting!

JeanBodel · 05/06/2019 06:35

Really happy for you, OP. I well remember a similar thing happening to me which allowed us to buy the house we're now living in. It is good news, don't let anyone tell you differently.

Jemihap but I'm
Currently paying a lot higher interest in less money, so in what way is that better?
