I was looking at the Miele model below but the reviews aren't fabulous. Most people say don't go for a microwave/ oven combo but to buy the two separately. We will also have a neff hide and slide. Will appreciate your advise

I've got a neff compact, integrated, pyrolytic, combination microwave/oven. I'm very pleased with it as an oven and microwave and would buy again.

chopc · 02/06/2019 08:42

@rideawhiteswan are you able to share the model number please?

I have a neff combination microwave and oven. It’s microwave size and not full oven size so it sits above my single over making it effectively a double oven.

I sell both brands. Combo ovens tend to not have a very powerful MW but should be perfectly adequate for any Mw you do. The type you buy should depend on what you will be using it for. A combination oven with MW will be a proper oven first and a MW second if you use it correctly it can cut cooking times by quite a lot. A microwave with oven means it is a MW first and an oven second so probably won’t have as much versatility. The Neff is more popular as it is cheaper but I don’t find people have problems with either make.

Why are you buying a slide and hide oven? Do u have a galley kitchen?

chopc · 02/06/2019 09:06

@user1498572889 no I don't but the oven I do having to navigate the oven door whilst carrying hot food a hassle so if there is a solution I would take it. Which model would you recommend? Oven needs to work well but we will primarily be using the microwave function

I've got a Miele micro-combi.

I like it.

Microwave is perfectly adequate and the oven is a proper oven - I use it for non messy cooking (my main oven is pyrolytic so anthing splashy goes in there).

I use some of the combi programmes. Embarrassingly the one for baked potatoes most!

@chopc. If you have to navigate a door then get the slide and hide. If the door wasn’t a problem I would suggest getting one with a standard door and telescopic rails inside. If you are looking to use it as a microwave mainly I would go with one thats main function is MW and the oven is the secondary function. You could save yourself quite a bit of money. Slide and hide Neff B57 combi oven C17. MW plus hot air c1amg. Think the model numbers are correct but there are so many and my memory isn’t what it was 😁

I have a Siemens compact oven with microwave function above a full size Siemens oven and use both.
The microwave function in my compact oven is excellent.

Miele have recently changed all their models so you might get a bargain if you can find somewhere selling old stock.

Thank you all!

I've got a Bosch combi with a 900W microwave. I like it. Sometimes requires a bit of planning to do small meals where I want to use both functions rather than put the big one on.

I’ve had a Neff combi microwave for a couple of months, above a Neff Hide n Slide (although you might not want to take advice from a dimwit who didn’t know that you could use the microwave and normal oven functions at the same time) Blush.
Didn’t really have the space or do enough cooking to justify two ovens and a separate microwave. At the moment I’ve actually used the combi more than the normal oven as it’s smaller so heats up quicker (for non spitting type stuff as it’s not self cleaning).
I did have the ovens positioned lower than normal as I’d seen other people standing on tiptoe to reach things out of the top oven, which I think is dangerous. I’m glad I did as I hadn’t factored in that the door in a combi is pull down rather than side to side, so I have to reach in from the side to get to the back (mainly for cleaning). Sadly I think the Hide n Slide facility is only on the normal oven. If I did it again I’d have the combi at the lower point and the Hide n Slide above, that would be perfect.

Mine is 1000 strength m wave. I have two other ovens so it’s fine for me.

BubblesBuddy · 02/06/2019 17:27

My lower oven has a pan drawer below and I find the height of both convenient. We also have a cupboard above the m wave/oven so it’s mid position. It isn’t really much different to where a double oven would be positioned. The m wave is at eye level grill position.
