So after a long 9 month journey we finally completed. Bit of background, we found a buyer for our home back in October. They were ftb who kept stringing us along. We remained patient, and they finally had their morgage approved in Feb. We found our home in March and they agreed to wait. We couldn't complete at the same time as our buyers morgage was due to expire and our sellers solicitor was unbelievably lazy, so we moved in with my parents for a month. Anyway, we hadn't told the kids (6 and 4) we had found a new home as we wanted to surprise them. We completed at 3.20 grabbed the keys from EA all excited took them to the house and gave them the good news, they were genuinly shocked and excited. The door was left open by the sellers, but we rang the sellers and told them we were coming, we thought he'd left the door open for us. Downstairs was empty began showing the kids around. Got upstairs and it was full of clutter, lady walks in and asks who we were, I responding with we're the new owners and you are? She hadn't packed her stuff! She was moving in with family down the road, and hadn't packed! Couldnt show kid their bedrooms.and she ruined the whole surprise. It's not the end of the world, but after waiting so long and dragging them around,.I was really excited for them. We had to leave so she could continue packing.
