Hi all. First time posting on Mumsnet - really hoping you can help.

We're in the process of extending our house which includes getting a new kitchen. I was wondering if any body can offer any hints or tips to consider when chosing the new kitchen. I have no wish or desire to spend my life cleaning anda polishing so I would appreciate guidance on anything or everything, from type of wall/tiles etc to go for (or not go for) to flooring, the work surface, best cupboard types, sinks etc. There are so many options now for eg, a constant boiling water tap etc but which one of these are 'essentials'' and which ones are just gimmicks not worth the money. Floor - need easy to clean/maintain. Which type is best? Pref one that wont show every mark/smudge/stain.Which colour is best? Really appreciate any tips at all, no matter how small! Thank you for your help in advance.

Choose darker grout and tiles that don't need re-sealing (so ceramic or some some porcelain). And lots of drawers - much easier to access than cupboards with doors).
