Recommendations for nice areas to live with good schools, easily accessible to Frimley and Guildford

So, we are moving to this area in a few months time from 400 miles away! I’m looking for advice on areas to live between Frimley and Guildford taking into account decent schools. Particularly ones with a Christian ethos if there were any. Our budget is around 500k. Houses are coming up in Frimley Green, Farnborough, ash vale, Mytchett, Jacobs well. I just need some tips from someone local! Thanks in advance 😊

Its not any of the locations you listed but what about wood street village? its a 20 minute drive to frimley and a 10 minute drive to guildford (20 minute cycle). it has its own outstanding rated primary school link too. this property has gorgeous views of the greens surrounding the village x

Yes I’ve saved this property it looks lovely. Is wood street a nice location? What would the secondary school catchment be like? (Thinking far in advance)

there are lots of really nice families in the village (or were last time i went). The best way to get a feel of it is to drive around. your nearest secondary is guildford county (rated outstanding by ofsted) which is a 12 minute drive/ 20 minute bike ride away from wood street. x

Farnham?

Hi OP, the nearest secondary school to Wood Street isn't Guildford County (which is great). It's King's College which has a very different reputation. We live between Guildford and Frimley (happy to pm you if that's any use). We applied to 6 secondary schools on the Surrey form (including County), got none of them and were allocated to Kings.

If schools are important to you, have a look at the better ones roughly in the area your' thinking of and work back from there. Living near County will probably be more expensive than living close to Tomlinscote (at least on a per square foot basis).

The primary schools aren't usually the issue albeit you'll always have some which are more popular than others but there are definite high and low spots for secondary schools!

If you're catholic (and catholic enough to get in on the very detailed criteria of some of them!) that opens up some other options too.

Hope that helps!

Farnham has some excellent schools, and now a direct line to Guildford as well as London. Look up South Farnham, and the feeder schools to it. Also St Polycarps which is a Catholic school.
Hop up the A331 to Frimley.

We live in Mytchett and love it - close to both North Camp and Ash Vale train stations so easy to get to both Guildford and London - plus cheaper than Wood Street (terrible school catchment as others have said). Primary schools would be ok in Mytchett (we are at Pirbright which does normally have places these days) but Holly Lodge is fine. Secondary is a bit harder. Tomlinscote has extended its catchment area and we would’ve got in for the last two years but wouldn’t have had a chance previously - you might be better off towards Frimley, Tomlinscote is a good school. From Mytchett you would get in to Collingwood which is good, but a Ash Manor, Kings (in Frimley) and Wavell are best avoided. You do get so much more for your money here though versus Guildford - plus Farnborough has got much better to shop in.

Slightly further round you have Windlesham, Bagshot, Lightwater. Valley End infants is a CofE school. After that a lot of the children go private but Connaught and Hammond schools are good and then Collingwood.

A bit further out if it's any use to you.... Farnham is nice, you couldn't pay me to live in Farnborough though. Frogmore, crowthorne and Sandhurst might be worth a nose. Bracknell is 30-40 mins drive to Farnborough and Guildford has a high performing CofE primary and secondary. We just bought a 6 bed house here for £500k so definitely get a lot for your money compared to nearby areas, bad reputation but actually a really nice place.
