Bathroom vanity cabinets/ sinks (shaker style like Neptune but cheaper)

Any ideas on where I can get something like this which is still good quality but not as expensive as Neptune (800+50 more approx for the kickboard which you can't really do without!)

www.neptune.com/furniture/bathroom/fitted-furniture/

I want a single sink unit, ideally nice stone top, and light blue or something I can get painted in that rather than the grey that is everywhere!

We used kitchen units to build the vanity in our bathroom. We added a white stone top and it looks great.

Victoria Plumb have this in grey (sorry!) or cream, and this in blue

Alloutofusernames1 · 20/05/2019 20:27

Thank you so far.
The blue one is ALMOST right Thecraic but I don't like the paint finish (argh!)
Titsy where did you get the kitchen units?

Ok, what about this? Too aqua? You can never be sure online.

They have some lovely dark blue ones but they're the same sort of money as Neptune!

Thanks...right style but yes wrong colour.

PigletJohn · 20/05/2019 22:47

can you find a supplier of doors in the colour and style you want?

you can have the cabinet made to any size you desire, in any available colour of laminated board.

For example by Benjamin James. There are others.

I like to choose the colour of board by looking at the Egger website, who make the board, they will send you free samples. Laminated board is very durable (the laminate is the same material as used on kitchen worktops).

Order the edging to be applied in the factory.

There are other suppliers, no doubt some are equally good.

PigletJohn · 20/05/2019 22:55

Or I suppose you could have the cabinet and doors made bare, and have the painted or sprayed in paint of your choice.

Alloutofusernames1 · 21/05/2019 11:44

Thanks Piglet - very useful and will take a look.

Found Roper Rhodes Hampton that might do although not blue! It is cheaper than Neptune and a similar look. Anyone bought from this company? Any good?

Or this one looks ok:

Anyone got a view on likely quality?

it says it's painted, probably sprayed onto MDF.

I don't like te basin design though. You'll notice it sits on the worktop, which means drips and splashes can get under the join, so you will have to seal it with silicone. You can get vanitory basins that fit over the entire top of the cupboard, so no joints, and the worktop surrounding the basin is moulded in a single piece.

Something like this. (Park Lane is their own-brand budget range)

Some are made in plastic which I think shoddy, but you can get ceramic ones.

A moulded upstand at the back will reduce the risk of water getting behind it.

Don't have a cupboard or shelf on the wall above the basin, because when a glass jar or bottle falls, the basin will be cracked and difficult to replace.

PigletJohn · 21/05/2019 14:53

I prefer the basins that bulge out at the front. They often fit into 300mm depth cupboards which take up less room, but the pipes and waste take up a lot of the interior.

minipie · 21/05/2019 17:51

Oh I found a couple of companies that do this sort of thing. Hang on a tic and I’ll find them for you.

minipie · 21/05/2019 17:54

Sorry no time to do links but check out

Harvey George
Albion Bath Co
Aspenn Furniture

minipie · 21/05/2019 18:03

Sorry forget Albion, cost more than Neptune but the other two are definitely a fair bit cheaper and you can choose your own colour.

Alloutofusernames1 · 21/05/2019 18:10

Thanks minipie - I will look!

Harvey George is looking like the one so thank you for that suggestion.
