Howdens Kitchen Quote - Can I haggle this?

Hi all,

Howdens have quoted our kitchen for around £5000. What do you guys think of the price and is there room for haggling here?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I think that’s reasonable considering you have five appliances included. Not sure there’s much room for haggling there.

Only three appliances included oven, microwave and hob with extractor. The quote doesn't include fridge freezer and washing machine.

I can only see one page of the quote, so no idea what’s included. But people generally say that with Howdens the first price is not the final price. I think haggling is worth a try.

Oven, hob, extractor, microwave and dishwasher - five appliances. I still think it’s a reasonable price but nothing to stop you trying.

Price it up at planner.diy-kitchens.com/ to give you a comparison. I brought prices down by not having end panels except where necessary to hide legs (DIY kitchens have self coloured cabinets not white). A handleless design (easier to clean and drop the cost of the handles, which at a few pounds each add up) and no pelmets (gives a cleaner look and saves a few pounds)
The only thing DIY about DIY kitchens is the planning. The units come fully made up and are really good value.

look for appliances elsewhere. You will be able to get better quality for the money.

Villanellesproudmum · 18/05/2019 12:27

That seems really cheap considering what is included.

I always haggle with Howdens. You often get a better deal at month end at my local one. Their appliances are rubbish though so i wouod buy them seperately.

£5000 seems ok given there are quite a few units and some appliances. But I couldn't see which kitchen range it is, what the worktops are or the appliance brand.

Also the layout doesn't look great, does the hob have to be on the end next to the door?

AlexaAmbidextra · 19/05/2019 07:52

But I couldn't see which kitchen range it is, what the worktops are or the appliance brand.

The quote says Greenwich range, Lamona appliances which are Howden’s own brand ie. the cheapest and the worktops are marble effect, so I assume laminate.
