Changing floor plan layout

Hi, I would love some advise about my house. I would love to change the downstairs layout as it doesn’t work very well as it is (see floor plan). The kitchen is quite dark as it’s in the middle so we are thinking of putting the kitchen into the back room as an L shape so we can keep the dining table in their. And then opening up the longe and original kitchen to create a large longe area, to bring more light into the area. It’s so hard to picture it though and I don’t want to spend all that money if it won’t work. So any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thank you smile

I’d probably just open the kitchen and dining room right out and add large sliders or bifolds all the way across the back.

That plus some clever lighting in the kitchen area should work and not cost a huge amount.

Also clever use of paint and kitchen cupboard colours and styles to maximise light.
