Move to Stoneleigh

hi everyone,

we are a couple on late 30's ,expecting the first baby early next year, who are currently looking for a property in SW London. We are new to the area so we are unsure which should be the best areas or the safest streets in Stoneleigh.
We liked the area around The Glade; looks safe; but we got a bit concerned with the people living/wandering close to the station.

Would anyone who knows the area kindly provide some feedback on this? We would like our new born to be raised in a safe area and not chavy - apologies if the comment looks snobbish :(

many thanks in advance!

Stoneleigh is perfectly safe! It’s surburbia personified.

Orchardgreen · 14/05/2019 03:43

It’s not SW London though; Surrey

Thank you Orchard. You're absolutely right.
Could you please advise which areas in Stoneleigh should be the best for purchasing a property in terms of safety and non-chave?

Thank you

You need to walk around and see what you think. But it’s perfectly safe, I don’t know what you are worrying about. And yes, non-Chavy does sound snobbish.

Apologies if it sounds as such.
My wife is Asian so the concept of safety is highly regarded for her. If we make the wrong step now, I will have to listen to her moaning my entire life Confused
Now on a serious note, I want my child to grow up in a friendly environment.

Thank you for your comments.

Well you sound charming. Are you sure Stoneleigh is exclusive enough for your tastes? I mean, there’s no Waitrose there.

SWLondon81 · 14/05/2019 09:14

Hi,

Doesn't really need to be exclusive.
I've been in the area around the Glade and it does look nice and calm.
Just wanted to check it with people who would have more insight about the area.

I’d choose somewhere between the railway line and the A24. You can walk to Stoneleigh Broadway for the Station and the shops, and also to Nonsuch Park which is lovely for walks and popular with mums with buggies. There’s a cafe too in the Mansion.

Having said that, the area to the west of the railway is nice, leafy and quiet, but a bit no-mans-land.

Many thanks for your reply.
I've heard good things about Worcester Park, Ewell village and Cheam.

Which one you consider to be the best spot for a young family?

Ewell village is the best
