My DH was made bankrupt a couple of years ago. We need to move house and have have asked to apply, disclosing the bankruptcy to the letting agent. We’ve said we have a guarantor and we can pay 6 months up front (but ideally 3).
The letting agent has said the bankruptcy might not show up on the referencing and that he hasn’t told the landlord. The application fee is £250 and if the tenancy doesn’t go ahead for any reason, we get back £100.
I feel like he’s just screwing us out of £150. Especially frustrating since the ban on fees comes in at the start of June but we don’t want to lose the house.
