Calling all Stevenage mumsnetters

Hi, we are looking at moving to Stevenage area, can any of you lovely people advise where is nice and where to avoid. We are a family with 4 children - they will be going to John Henry Newman school, currently live in Beds.

Would you consider Letchworth? its a 15 minute drive from Stevenage but there are loads of green spaces, nice town centre etc x

Do you know you've already got a place at John Henry? If so I'd recommend Codicote or Knebworth rather than Stevenage.

Graveley is lovely and close to JHN

Yes 2 older children have places at JHN, though Stevenage May be a good option for easy travel for them. But open to other areas not too far if Stevenage not great, as we are unsure of the areas there

Personally I'd choose to live outside of Stevenage itself. A pp suggested Graveley which is nice, although I'm not keen on the main road running though it. What's your budget?

Parts of Aston / Bragbury end are ok, but Stevenage as a town isn't the nicest (although the old town is ok). There are nice surrounding villages, such as Weston. Hitchin, Baldock and Letchworth are more desirable (but more expensive) nearby towns.

Knebworth
But if it has to be Stevo (the Nidge)

Then great Ashby. Chells manor area. Old town areas. Fishers green Bradbury end are where I’d be looking.
