There's a hole in my freezer!

I think it's from stuff falling out from the overstuffed shelves and landing on it - there's a hole in the white lining of my freezer. The pIastic has cracked and there's a softer lining material inside it.
There's no gas coming out as far as I can tell. Can i gaffer tape it?
I googled and it suggested food grade Freezable sealant (where would I get that?) but I'm thinking gaffer tape would cover it ok?

I'd just tape it. The soft lining is just insulation.

Food grade sealant would be sterile silicone goop.

Practically, gaffer tape (waterproof) or even parcel tape should be fine as long as you make sure the plastic surface is dry enough for the tape to adhere. I'd probably go for parcel tape, as it's more sealing and doesn't have thread in to wick moisture.

My go to for this kind of repair is Gorilla Tape:

It is crazy durable with a very strong adhesive. Can you get it in the UK?
